The understanding of the fundamental will assist in the tracing of the origin source of water leakage. The foundation of water IN and OUT, the characteristics of water and the structure of building. Water tracing always start from the bottom to top.

Detections of water leakage start from it water OUT (Result) leading to water IN (Origin). It is the process of how the water travel from it origin to the affected area which is the result. This is a reverse engineering process of detection based on logic and the foundation from tracing of water leakage. Building is made out of concrete, cement, bricks, tiles, woods, pipes, rebar and etc. These materials will reflect damages done during water leakage. Signs of leakage will appear on these surfaces. Mostly stained mark and water damp can be seen on these surface. The design and the floor plan also help in determine the origin of leakage.

Water leakage equipments is used during the process of tracing. This is to remove the guessing element from site inspection and reduce water test done on the affected area. Equipment also provide data needed to determine the origin source of leakage.
