Solution
Solution will only provided once the origin source of leakage is verified. These solution will be based on site layout and constrain. Example like hacking hole on part of wall for repair, compare to tiling wall in the toilet; plaster wall is prefer. It is very difficult to replace existing tiles with close-matching tiles than have to paint the entire plaster wall with close-matching colour; cost will also be lower.
A recommended solution has to be permanent unless there are issue on constrain and cost where a temporary solution is implemented. Permanent solution has to be address to it origin source of leakage; what cause the leakage? The location of repair has to be the cause of leakage; water IN.
Temporary solution mostly work done on the water OUT affected area from the resulted area where stained mark, water droplet or efflorescence can be detected. Permanent solution will address to the cause, source or origin of where the leakage is from and the repair work is come with warranty. Method statement based on site-inspection findings. How the work is carry out and where is the repair done.
There are 3 steps to follow when consideration and recommend a solution. Method statement will be based on origin source of leakage for rectification of water leakage.
These 3 steps are as follow
Step 1: Source
Step 2: Stop
Step 3: Diversion
The 3 steps listed have to be applied in sequence. Solution is based on priority; Step 1 being the most and moving downward to step 3 being the least.
Step 1 is a permanent solution by rectification work of water leakage that always addresses its core or source of leakage; position side. By taking care of the source water IN, water OUT will not be possible.
Step 2 is a temporary solution or a fall back solution if step 1 is applicable. This is where rectification work is done on the negative side via PU grouting.
Step 3 occurs mostly on the design of a building where the source of leakage can not be rectified and water can not be stopped.
